East London Street Tour
Our East End tour explores the surrounding streets of Shoreditch, Spitalfields and Whitechapel, areas that are a mecca for emerging artists, galleries, graffiti and street art located against a background of street markets and diverse cultures. Whether you are a novice or seasoned photographer we will help you bring to life the expansive photogenic propensity of this soulful, diverse and dynamic locality.
Historically the East End that we know today was the area of London beyond Aldgate, the eastern gateway of the London Wall built by the Romans to enclose and protect their original settlement of Londinium. Beyond the City Walls and free from authoritative control, this area was associated with poverty, deprivation and overcrowding.
Considered to be the neglected side of the City brought to life by the writings of Charles Dickens, a fascinating and eventful history that draws together the many facets of this mixed area of London. The objective is for your pictures to draw on this influence and interpret the underlying atmosphere.
This Tour aims to link this historic influence of the past and inspire your photographic creativity, as well as photographing the street art and graffiti currently on show. Our teacher will guide you through the streets and help you compose some of the best photographs in the localities available.
The Tour will give you both an insight into the East End of the past and present and an understanding of what Street photography can represent. You will also have a photographic record of one of the most diverse areas of London.
